Art

Bristol has a vibrant arts community that includes museums, first-class galleries, Monthly Art Night trolley tours and an Arts and Antiques Saturday stroll. There are many exhibitions with mediums ranging from oils, watercolors, pastels, ceramics, hand-rafted jewelry, weaving and mosaics.

In addition Bristol has theater performances at Roger Williams University and the Bristol Theater Company. Performing art opportunities abound from Classical Music and blue grass to folk music. There are coffee houses, concerts in Bristol churches and on the town common all summer.

Waterfront concerts precede the weeks leading to the 4th of July and summer ends with a performance by the Rhode Island Philarmonic on Labor Day weekend.

Bristol has many programs that educate, inform and inspire through a wide variety of cultural activities. The arts scene can enhance the visitor's experience and the quality of life for Bristol residents. A highlight of December 2013 was the opening of the new building for the Bristol Art Museum. The 1860 Carriage House on the grounds of Linden Place will become the permanent home of the museum. The members of the museum look forward to celebrating their 50th anniversary at Linden Place. The new space will enable the museum to expand its activities and continue their legacy as an arts center.
